“Mother cares for child because she loves him. Caregiver loves child because she cares for him.”

“We are professionals… and we must be intimate (in the care of the child)” – Anna Tardos, Director, Emma Pikler Foundation, Summer Institute, July, 2005

“The toddler’s relationship with the caregiver is the single most important component of the child-care experience. Young children internalize the quality of their interactions not only with their parents but with other important people as well.” – from Alicia F. Lieberman, The Emotional Life of the Toddler, 1993
