Ages Served: Families with children ages 26 months through five years. We offer two, three and five day a week morning classes. Afternoon class for children 42 months to 5 years. We also offer Parent/Tot classes for children ages 12-26 months several times a week. In addition, an Enrichment Program for children over the age of three years is available four days a week.

Available Teaching Positions:

(1) Part-time position for Lead Teacher---children ages 34-42months. Morning Session: 8:30 A.M.-1:00 P.M. (Actual class hours: 9:00A.M.-11:45A.M.)

(2) Part-time position for Lead Teacher; children ages 26- 34 mo. Morning Session: 8:30AM-1:00PM (Actual class hours: 9:00A.M.-11:45A.M.)

Background: Chicago Sinai Congregation was founded in 1861 in Hyde Park. Sinai Preschool has served the community for over 50 years, first in Hyde Park and since 1999 in its current location.

Sinai Preschool is a NAEYC accredited neighborhood preschool within a Jewish setting. We are licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and the City of Chicago. Our families come from come from a variety of religious and cultural backgrounds. We pride ourselves on introducing children to Judaism within a broader context of acceptance and respect for a multiplicity of religious and diverse cultural experiences.

Philosophy: The program is relationship based and child-centered. Young children learn to explore their world through play. Out caring and nurturing teachers provide a developmentally appropriate and emotionally supportive learning environment.

General Job Description: Seeking experienced Early Childhood Educators---working as part of a teaching team with two other teachers (one Lead, one Assistant).

Teachers will prepare and maintain a classroom, creating and implementing a meaningful, age-appropriate curriculum, which is harmonious with Sinai’s philosophy of early childhood education. Help to plan, attend and participate in all school functions. Attend staff and supervisory meetings, as scheduled by the Director. Hold Parent/Teacher conferences twice a year, and when otherwise necessary for the purpose of evaluating the child’s adjustment and progress. Meet all city and state requirements for child care professionals to meet licensing standards maintaining credentials for teaching which include 20 hours of training annually and in-service training sessions.

Education: Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred. (Experienced)

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
